CEO’s Report

As we reflect on the past year, I am proud to present a report that highlights the resilience, growth, and unwavering commitment of EPIC to the communities we serve across the Pilbara and Goldfields regions. This year has been marked by significant achievements and challenges, all of which have strengthened our resolve and driven our mission forward.

A cornerstone of our progress this year has been the release of the EPIC Housing Strategy. This strategic initiative is more than a plan; it is a commitment to addressing one of the most pressing needs within our community—affordable accessible housing. By prioritising this, we are not only enhancing the well-being of our clients but also laying the foundation for more sustainable and supportive environments in which they can thrive.

Stability has been a hallmark of our operations this year, particularly within our management team. Maintaining a consistent leadership presence across all sites has been crucial in navigating the complexities of our work and ensuring that our services remain of the highest standard. This stability has been instrumental in advancing our strategic goals and in delivering consistent, quality support to our clients.

Our EPIC Strategic Planning Day held in March was another significant milestone, culminating in the launch of the EPIC 2024-2029 Strategic Plan. This comprehensive plan is designed to guide us through the next five years, setting clear objectives and ambitious goals that will shape our future. The rollout has already begun, and I am confident that it will lead to meaningful, lasting change in the communities we serve.

While we celebrate our successes, we must also acknowledge the ongoing challenges we face, particularly in the retention of Support Workers. This issue is reflective of the broader difficulties inherent in working within the remote and resource-constrained regions of the Pilbara and Goldfields. However, it is also an area where we are determined to innovate and improve. We are exploring new strategies to attract and retain talent, recognising that our workforce is the backbone of our organisation.

Our impact within the community has been profound this year, underscored by the success of our various programs and events. The Career Expo in Karratha stands out as a highlight, offering invaluable opportunities for local residents to connect with potential employers and explore new career pathways. This event, along with our participation in multiple community activities, has significantly strengthened our ties with the community and enhanced our collaborative efforts.

Collaboration has been a key theme this year, with partnerships and alliances with other community organisations playing a critical role in amplifying our impact. These partnerships have allowed us to reach more people, offer more services, and create a more integrated support network for those in need.

On a personal note, I was deeply honoured to be recognised as Business Woman of the Year at the 2023 Karratha Business Chamber of Commerce Awards. This accolade reflects the hard work and dedication of the entire EPIC team, and it serves as a reminder of the importance of strong, visionary leadership in driving organisational success.

As we look to the future, our focus is on strategic growth and development. The forthcoming land development in Karratha will be a significant step forward in expanding our housing initiatives and enhancing our service capacity. Simultaneously, the renovation project in Kalgoorlie is nearing completion, promising to improve our operational efficiency and service delivery in the region.

Internally, we remain committed to the continuous development of our staff. Investing in our people is paramount to our success, and we will continue to provide the training, resources, and support needed for them to excel in their roles. Our focus on internal growth will ensure that EPIC remains a leader in our field, capable of meeting the evolving needs of our communities with innovation and excellence.

In conclusion, this year has been one of significant progress, marked by both achievements and challenges. I am immensely proud of what we have accomplished together and remain optimistic about the path ahead. Our successes are a testament to the dedication of our staff, the support of our partners, and the trust of our community. As we move forward, I am confident that EPIC will continue to make a profound difference in the lives of those we serve.

Thank you for your ongoing support and for being part of the EPIC journey.
